CARME RODRÍGUEZ   |  composer and orchestrator

Ribadeo, Lugo (1996)

Carme Rodríguez grew up in a musical environment and studied piano, singing, guitar and percussion. She's a composer, orchestrator, arranger and multi-instrumentalist.

She graduated with Honors in the Degree in Composition of Contemporary Music at the Transforming Arts Institute (TAI University) in Madrid, in 2018. Since 2013, she is the main film composer in dozens of short films and series, currently distributed through national and international festivals.

Living in Galicia and Madrid, she currently combines her work as a composer and as an arranger and orchestrator in concert, film, theatrical and TV projects, and also in the teams of other prestigious composers and orchestrators.

In 2022, she receives from the Galician Culture Council the commission for the premiere in the Letras Galegas Concert, performed by Zoar Ensemble, and an orchestration project for the Real Filharmonía de Galicia. In 2021, she composes a new piece for the Galician Symphony Orchestra's Project 2020(21), which premieres, conducted by Nacho de Paz, at the RESIS Festival in A Coruña. Her music has been performed by orchestras (OSCYL), ensembles (neSg, Mbira-Duo, Grupo Instrumental Siglo XX) and solo performers (Isabel Dobarro, Steve Harriswangler, Noè Rodrigo).

Some of the awards obtained so far are "63 variations on the body, Open Call for Composers" (2015), "Abanico de Vías" (Teatro de la Estación, 2016), “X Galician Composition Contest for Concert Band” (2017), “Construíndo Sons” Award (2018), II International Composition Contest “María de Pablos” (2019), CreaClásica Contest (2019) and III International Contest of Composition "María de Pablos" (2020).

The experience in modern, contemporary and film music, as well as her orchestration skills, helps to create great versatility in Carme Rodríguez's work. With detailed harmonic textures and emotion as the axis, her music is eclectic, between the past and the present. In her work, contemporary composition and film music may permanently coexist.
